Let’s face it, with so many on the market, it can be difficult to find the best nutritional supplement. Many out there are poor quality and synthetic, so here are 5 important tips to get you the maximum benefits.

1. Purity

The majority of nutritional supplements out there are poor quality and use synthetic ingredients. Take vitamin E for example, in its natural form it can deliver great benefits while the synthetic version can actually have an adverse impact on your health in the long term.

Curcumin, from turmeric, should be a 98% standardized extract, while Oleuropein from olive leaf should be 20%. Many do not come near to this required level of purity. Check the label carefully!

Manufacturers use them to save money, even though the end result is poor. Most of these companies funding goes on advertising rather than quality ingredients.

2. Coating

The best nutritional supplement will have what’s known as an enteric coating, while the majority use cheap veggie-caps. With a veggie-cap, most of the nutrients goodness is lost to the stomach acid, while a special enteric coating allow safe passage through the stomach, releasing the ingredients in the upper intestine where all the benefits are realized.

3. Synergy

Using synergistic ingredients means you get the direct benefits of each nutrient and the benefits from their interaction with each other. Green tea and olive leaf combine well for example and the addition of piperine from black pepper increase absorption rates by up to 2000%, especially for curcumin extract.

Most nutritional supplements do not contain the right blend of ingredients and you therefore lose out on many of the benefits.

4. Dosage

If you follow the guidelines above, you will see that high doses become unnecessary as the right delivery method and combination deliver powerful health benefits. As a rough guide, 50mg-100mg per tablet per nutrient is the best balance.

5. Frequency

The best nutritional supplement is normally taken twice a day, with 2 tablets at a time being optimal. Watch out for cheap one-a-day type synthetic pills which have very little value.
